Yakov Smirnoff sets sights on sitcom

Branson comedian Yakov Smirnoff is setting his sights on a television sitcom based on his experiences in college classes at the University of Missouri.

He was reportedly at MU this week to conduct research for a proposed sitcom where Smirnoff would play a professor teaching about intimate relationships at a Midwestern college, according to the Columbia Missourian.

He has been teaching a class called "The Business of Laughter" at Missouri State University in Springfield for roughly five years.
