Yahoo set to pass Twitter in U.S. mobile ads

Do you still use Yahoo? Advertisers think so.

According to Bloomberg, Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) is poised to surpass Twitter Inc. (NYSE: TWTR) to become the third-biggest company in U.S. mobile advertising.

The move is due, in part, to a challenge from CEO Marissa Mayer, who challenged her team to create a new ad feature that would run across mobile devices and desktop personal computers in just 45 days.

Nicknamed Moneyball, the team did it just 43.

Yahoo’s mobile-ad slice will climb to 3.74 percent in 2015 and to 4.2 percent in 2016.

Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) and Facebook Inc. (Nasdaq: FB) remain solidly in the top two spots.
