Some employees at Yahoo were aware of a recently disclosed major hacking incident when it occurred in 2014, according to a filing made by the company with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
“The company had identified that a state-sponsored actor had access to the company’s network in late 2014,” Yahoo’s most recent 10-k form said of the security breach.
Two months ago, the company reported personal information of at least a half billion user accounts had been stolen. According to Fortune, while some Yahoo employees knew about the breach, they may not have known how large it was.
