Xceligent CEO ousted

Posted online

Xceligent fired CEO Doug Curry as the real estate data company's legal battle against rival CoStar heats up, according to The Real Deal.

Frank Anton, former CEO of media company Hanley Wood, will take over as executive chairman. Chief Operating Officer Jody Vanarsdale will serve as acting CEO.

Erin Curry, chief people officer, is also out. It's unclear why they were fired, but sources told The Real Deal it was unrelated to the CoStar lawsuit and part of a cost-cutting restructuring effort.

Last week, Xceligent contractor ReBackOffice admitted in court the company directed it to steal data from CoStar. ReBackOffice also claimed Doug Curry and Chief Research Officer Nathan Lipowicz were involved in the alleged data theft.

“ReBackOffice is a small company with nowhere near the resources of CoStar, and we believe that they, like others before them, felt intimidated to settle with CoStar for business reasons,” Xceligent officials wrote in a statement.
