X, formerly known as Twitter, is implementing a charge for users in New Zealand and the Philippines to use the service.
The program, called Not a Bot, will cost those users $1 annually to post, like, reply and quote other content on the platform, according to NPR.
It's not yet known if the fee will expand to other countries.
