Wonders of Wildlife, the American National Fish and Wildlife Museum, 500 W. Sunshine, had an equipment failure in its water filtration system, but no fish or animals were harmed, according to a WOW news release.
The museum's early warning system did not detect an apparent drain-valve malfunction in one of the museum's bio towers. Water overflowed the tower and flooded several lower levels.
The release stated that the 140,000-gallon community pond was below half its normal water level when the malfunction was discovered. Damage was confined to sheet rock and carpet.
WOW Executive Director Fred Marty said the Nov. 2 grand opening for the facility is on target, and clean-up, which began immediately after the flooding was discovered, was not expected to take long because the full construction crew was still on-site.
