Worst day of the winter for airlines and passengers

Thursday is shaping up to be the worst day of a very bad winter for U.S. airlines and their passengers.

As a storm battered the East Coast, more than 7,100 flights were canceled Thursday, according to CNNMoney.

More than 75,00 U.S. flights have been canceled so far in 2014 due to winter storms, the worst series of cancellations to hit the industry since U.S. airspace was completely shut down after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to the article.
