The Women's Tennis Association announced an immediate suspension of all tournaments in China.
WTA officials cited concerns for Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai, who disappeared from public view three weeks ago after accusing a top official in the country of sexual assault.
WTA leader Steve Simon said he has "serious doubts" that Peng, 35, is "free, safe and not subject to intimidation."
