Women's Olympic softball team to visit Springfield in July

Tickets are on sale now for a summertime softball game between the U.S. Women’s Softball Olympic Team and an all-star team of collegiate players from Missouri State, Evangel and Drury universities.

The Olympic team will play at 7:30 p.m. July 18 at Thompson Field-Meador Sports Complex, 2500 S. Fremont Ave.

According to a news release from the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, the game is part of the Olympic team’s Bound for Beijing Tour.

Ticket sales for the event are limited to 3,000. Individual tickets are $10 for infield and $7 for outfield. Outfield tickets for groups of 20 or more are $5 each.

This is the Olympic softball team’s second visit to Springfield. The first was in 2004 as part of the Aiming for Athens tour.
