Women's communications group honors Drury senior

Posted online
The Association of Women in Communications will present Drury University senior Mallory Noelke with the 2009 Rising Star Award in Seattle on Oct. 17.

The award is presented to one student member from 36 AWC chapters nationwide, according to a Drury news release.

Noelke was nominated for the honor by Drury Communication Networks, a group for communication majors, because of her leadership and community involvement, the release said.

Noelke is a public relations major, and she was one of 15 students selected by the American Advertising Federation for the Stickell intern program, through which she landed a summer internship at the Los Angeles Times. She also has served as an intern at Springfield-based Noble, promoting www.foodchannel.com.

Noelke is now special events chairwoman for Drury's AWC chapter and managing editor of campus newspaper The Mirror. Her post-graduate plans are to work in public relations in the nonprofit sector.
