Women-owned nForm Architecture, Hurts Donut founders honored

The owners of nForm Architecture LLC and Hurts Donut Co. were honored by Drury University during the college's sixth annual Women in Entrepreneurship Symposium held Feb. 8.

Jennifer Wilson, founder, owner and principle architect of nForm, was chosen as Woman Entrepreneur of the Year. She was honored by Drury's Edward Jones Center for Entrepreneurship for her client service and environmentally friendly architectural designs. Wilson, who opened her downtown firm in 2007, has designed recent projects including Studio 417 at Farmers Park. Wilson renamed her firm to nForm from Jennifer Wilson Architect LLC in April 2011, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Other nominees for the award were Deborah Bellotti and Candice Carson of The Buzz restaurant and Jennifer Choi of Rose Diamonds Custom Design & Repair.

Winning Woman-Owned Start-Up of the Year honors was Hurts Donut, co-owned by Kas Clegg and her husband, Tim. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Hurts Donut was built on recent creative cupcake models and West Coast doughnut shop trends.

Other nominees were Fleur, owned by Lisa Clary and Kim Wood; Behavioral Learning Center LLC, owned by Ginger Crabtree; the Springfield franchise of School of Rock, owned by Jennifer Jester; and Bodacious Cases LLC, owned by Arianna Russell, the release said.

To qualify for the awards, honorees are required to own at least 50 percent of a business and operate within 30 miles of Springfield. The Women Entrepreneur of the Year nominees must have been in business at least five years, while the Woman-Owned Start-Up of the Year candidates must have opened less than two years ago.
