A Waukesha, Wis.-based foundation awarded a $194,100 grant to the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary at Evangel University.
Presented by the Kern Family Foundation Inc., the funding is earmarked to promote the integration of faith, work and economics, according to a news release.
"This new grant will empower a team of AGTS professors to provide six regional workshops to promote discipleship as a process that includes spirituality, personal wholeness, relational integrity, vocational clarity and workplace impact," said Johan Mostert, AGTS professor of community psychology and a co-lead investigator on the project, in the release. "The grant will also allow AGTS to research, develop and promote courses that focus on (faith, work and economics) at the master's and doctoral level as well as continuing education credits for pastors and chaplains."
AGTS, which in May 2013 merged into Evangel along with Central Bible College, is building a faith, work and economics team at Evangel as part of its efforts to educate existing pastors and put leaders with knowledge of the concepts into churches.
