Esterly, Schneider & Associates Inc.CCC lodge restoration, 24667 State Highway 112, Cassville
Esterly, Schneider & Associates Inc. is designing a $1.25 million lodge restoration at Roaring River State Park for the state of Missouri. Slated for completion in fall 2016, crews will restore a three-story lodge built in the 1930s, originally designed as a building with community and dining rooms and one level of rooms for rent. This project restores the historic use of the building to its previous use for the rental of rooms and creates seven units for rent on two floors, including 14 beds, with kitchenettes, living areas and dining areas in each unit.
The building also will include a community room and kitchen. Project engineers are Anderson Engineering Inc., civil; Bob D. Campbell & Co. Inc., structural; and Interpres Building Solutions LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
Buxton Kubik Dodd CreativeKickapoo High School auditorium addition, 3710 S. Jefferson Ave.
Buxton Kubik Dodd Creative is designing an $8.9 million auditorium addition for Springfield Public Schools’ Kickapoo High. A 2013 bond project, Phase II includes an east entrance and 900-plus seat auditorium, which will double as a Federal Emergency Management Agency safe room. The addition will be flanked by support and classroom spaces to the north and an entrance to the south. Engineers on the project are Toth and Associates Inc., civil and structural; and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Other consultants include Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects, architect; Peerbolt Creative, theater; and Avant Acoustics, acoustic. The project is slated for completion in spring 2016.
nForm Architecture LLCMacon County Courthouse expansion, 101 E. Washington St., Macon
Slated for completion in spring 2016, Macon County enlisted nForm Architecture LLC as architect on its $7.6 million courthouse expansion on the square. The project includes historic preservation and restoration of the courthouse, built in 1865, and the annex, built in 1895. The additions and renovations create connection directly between the historic buildings, as well as separate the administrative and judicial functions.
Additionally, the project includes a 48-bed indirect supervision jail. Contractor for the project is J.E. Dunn, with engineering work from Shafer Kline & Warren Inc., civil; J&M Engineering LLC, structural; and Interpres Building Solutions LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc.Branson Landing north retail development, 482 Branson Landing Blvd., Branson
Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc. is working with owner HCW North LLC to design a $2.5 million retail development on Branson Landing’s north end. When the 29,600 square-foot project opens in May, it will extend the Landing’s footprint to the north.
The mixed-use development comprises three buildings with 16 storefront lease spaces ranging in size from 1,375 to 4,200 square feet. Build LLC is general contractor with engineering work from Olsson Associates Inc., civil; Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc., structural; and Colvin Jones Davis LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Zanaboni-Smith Design Studio is landscape architect.
Paragon Architecture Inc.Campbell Elementary School, 801 state Route 53, Campbell
Paragon Architecture Inc. is designing a $4.1 million elementary school for the Campbell R-2 School District. The approximately 30,000-square-foot facility highlights design aspects from a recently demolished high school building and incorporates those ideas in a more contemporary approach. General contractor on the project is McKinstry Construction, with engineering work from Waters Engineering Inc., civil, and Strickland Engineering LC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The project is slated for completion in February 2016.
H Design Group LLCCity Utilities bus station, 211 N. Main Ave.
City Utilities of Springfield is working with H Design Group LLC on the $5.1 million downtown bus transfer station between Main Avenue and Grant Street. The 4,476-square-foot building would replace the current station on McDaniel Street. The final design includes ample transparency, allowing passengers to see and navigate toward buses and eliminate pedestrian crossings in front of drivers. Canopies above the outdoor waiting area are sloped outward to help filter vehicle noise and fumes and the building's interior will offer more seating, ticketing, offices for security and supervisors, a driver's lounge, public restrooms and a multipurpose community room. Project engineers are CJW Transportation Consultants LLC, civil; Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc, structural and design colsultant; and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Other consultants include Maintenance Design Group, transit design; Zanaboni-Smith Design Studio, landscape design; and Professional Project Management, construction cost estimating. The project is slated for completion in early 2016.
Sapp Design Associates Architects PCNixa Junior High, Phase II, 205 North St., Nixa
Sapp Design Associates Architects PC is working with Nixa Public Schools on Phase II of its junior high expansion project. Slated for completion this spring, the $9.2 million bond-funded project includes a new secure entrance, administrative offices, common space and a high-tech collaboration space. Branco Enterprises Inc. is general contractor. Engineering work on the 50-year-old building is from Toth and Associates Inc., structural; and Colvin Jones Davis LLC, mechanical electrical and plumbing. Shaffer & Hines Inc. provided engineering surveying.
Insight Design Architects LLCOzark Mountain Resort remodel, 146 Ozark Mountain Resort Drive, Kimberling City
Insight Design Architects LLC is designing a $2 million remodel of the existing Ozark Mountain Resort condo development in Kimberling City to update materials, colors, finishes and create a more natural look to complement the surrounding environment. R.E. West Construction is general contractor on the project slated for completion this fall.
Sam A. Winn & Associates Architects PCWest Plains North High School campus, Division Drive, West Plains
Sam A. Winn & Associates Architects PC is designing an $8 million, 44-acre West Plains North High School campus for the Richards R-5 School District. The campus will feature football, baseball and softball fields, as well as a 48,000-square-foot school. Within it's two-story design, it will house a gymnasium with seating for 1,200, a full-service kitchen, cafeteria, open space lobby, locker rooms that double up as safe rooms and various flexible classrooms. Completion is planned for fall 2016.
Ireland Architects Inc.Lakeland Behavioral Health System additions, 440 S. Market St.
Lakeland Behavioral Health System is adding a 10-bed unit offering psychiatric care for veterans. Ireland Architects Inc. helped ensure all necessary components were accommodated for staff efficiency, patient safety and controlling construction costs. Project engineers are J&M Engineering LLC, structural; and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The project is slated for completion this month.
Dake Wells Architecture Inc.Missouri State University Glass Hall renovation and addition, 901 S. National Ave.
Dake Wells Architecture Inc. in collaboration with Perkins and Will Inc., is designing a renovation and addition to Missouri State University’s Glass Hall. The project reimagines existing spaces between classrooms as student-oriented collaboration and social zones. With an emphasis on collaborative learning, the renovation will provide open and closed study spaces, a cafe, financial markets lab and improved wayfinding. The project also includes a four-story Student Success Center surrounding a glass atrium with open staircases and flexible meeting spaces. A mock advertising agency, study rooms that double as corporate interview space, executive classrooms, and career services and advisement will round out the addition. Project engineers are CJW Transportation Consultants LLC, civil; KJWW Engineering Consultants, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. A project completion date hasn’t been set.
Jack Ball Architects PCCrane High School gymnasium, 209 Pirate Lane, Crane
Jack Ball Architects PC is working with the Crane R-3 School District to design a $2.5 million, 16,000-square-foot gymnasium addition at the high school. Set for completion in the fall, the addition includes a gymnasium with seating for 1,200 spectators, locker rooms, concessions, athletic commons area and a main entrance to the high school with security improvements. General contractor is Westport Construction, with engineering work from Pinnacle Design Consultants, civil and structural; and Interpres Building Solutions LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
Bates & Associates Inc.Missouri Southern State University student-housing complex, 3950 Newman Road, Joplin
Bates & Associates Inc. is designing a $13.85 million student-housing complex of six interconnected three-story buildings arrayed around a central courtyard for Missouri Southern State University. Expected to be complete in May, the project comprises 48 four-bedroom units, three three-bedroom units, two elevators and two separate commons areas for students. Each unit includes a kitchen, dining area, laundry facilities and a private bath. Project engineers are Small Arrow Engineering LLC, civil; Wells & Scaletty LLC, structural; and FSC MEP Engineers LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. General contractor is R.E. Smith Construction Co.
Slone Architects and Interior Designers Inc.Prime Inc. addition, 2740 N. Mayfair Ave.
Slone Architects and Interior Designers Inc. is designing an $8 million, two-story office addition including a basement and sky bridge for Prime Inc. The 35,790-square-foot expansion will be an extension of the original 1982 office complex and is slated for completion in November. Project engineers are Lee Engineering and Associates LLC, civil; Silverhill Engineering, structural; and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

Pellham-Phillips Architects and Engineers Inc.The Sterling, 312 Park Central East
Pellham-Phillips Architects and Engineers Inc. is working with The Vecino Group LLC on the $2 million renovation of the former Sterling Hotel building. Originally designed by architect Frank W. Hunt in the early 1900s, the four-story building is being renovated as 30 sustainable, micro-unit multifamily lofts. Financed by BancorpSouth, the first floor will be occupied by downtown’s Dapper barber club. Project architect is Buxton Kubik Dodd Creative, with structural engineering work from J&M Engineering Inc. Build LLC is general contractor on the project expected to be complete in July.
Smith-Goth Engineers Inc.Meyer Care Center renovations and additions, 1201 W. 19th St., Higginsville
The George J. & Hilda Meyer Foundation, dba John Knox Village East and Meyer Care Center, is working with mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer Smith-Goth Engineers Inc. on renovations and additions to approximately 25,000 square feet of a skilled nursing facility in Higginsville. Lighting is being replaced with new LED and fluorescent fixtures and the fire alarm and nurse call systems are being improved. Along with interior renovations, the main entry to the existing building is being improved with a new walkway, site signage and a covered canopy. Russell Architects PC is handling design work, with additional engineering from CFS Engineers, civil, and Mettemeyer Engineering LLC, structural. The project is expected to be complete in early 2016.
Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc. Webb City Junior High School renovation and FEMA addition, 807 W. First St., Webb City
Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc. is mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer for the $2 million addition for the Webb City R-8 School District. With design work from Paragon Architecture Inc., the 7,812-square-foot brightly colored space is designed to create differing zones of learning. The team designed the media center and library to double as a community Federal Emergency Management Agency safe room. Solutions for mechanical, lighting, power and special systems were implemented with 3-D modeling. Expected to be complete in the first quarter, additional engineering is from Olsson Associates Inc., civil, and Toth and Associates Inc., structural. Project general contractor is Crossland Construction.
Interpres Building Solutions LLCBeautyrest Sleep Gallery, Columbia
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer Interpres Building Solutions LLC is working with owner James-Blaylock Enterprises LLC on a Beautyrest Sleep Gallery in Columbia. The 9,068-square-foot center will house the mattress store and one or two tenant spaces. The building facade is designed with split-face block and brick with glass storefronts. Project architect is Esterly, Schneider & Associates Inc., with civil engineering work from Anderson Engineering Inc. MoDoCo Inc. is general contractor on the project expected to be complete this summer.
Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc.Crossway Baptist Student Center, 2900 N. Barnes Ave.
Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc. is structural engineer and architect on the $3.75 million student center for Crossway Baptist Church. Financed by Commerce Bank, the 33,000-square-foot project comes two years after Crossway rebranded and relocated its church campus, now fronting Interstate 44. The addition features two lounge cafes, two student meeting rooms, 13 small-group classrooms, a kitchen, lobby, a multipurpose gym with a stage and movable partitions, and a connecting vestibule to the existing church. Slated for completion in spring 2016, Springfield Builders Inc. is general contractor with additional engineering work from Anderson Engineering Inc., civil, and Colvin Jones Davis LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Inc. Park Over the Highway, downtown St. Louis
Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Inc. is providing project management and design services for the $26.4 million Park Over the Highway project in the heart of downtown St. Louis. The project consists of a 280-foot land bridge over Interstate 44 that will provide a seamless pedestrian connection between downtown and the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Park – home of the Gateway Arch. The project features design of the land bridge, converting a vehicle bridge to a pedestrian bridge, replacing the Walnut Street Bridge, city street network changes, lighting, signalization and American’s with Disabilities Act improvements. Extensive stakeholder involvement with federal, state and city entities was required.
Olsson Associates Inc.Solo Cup repurposing, 1100 N. Glenstone Ave.
Civil engineer Olsson Associates Inc. is working with Warren Davis Properties to repurpose the former Solo Cup building. In the design phase since 2012, work is expected to wrap up this year on the 1.3 million-square-foot, 63-acre building and properties into a multitenant warehousing and distribution facility. Project architect is Buxton Kubik Dodd Creative, general contractor is Q & Co. LLC, with additional engineering work from Miller Engineering PC, structural, and Green Engineering, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
Colvin Jones Davis LLCNeosho High School addition and FEMA safe room
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer Colvin Jones Davis LLC is working with the Neosho school district on a $5.4 million addition and Federal Emergency Management Agency safe room to its high school. A 1,600-student population dictated the FEMA shelter be a massive 14,000-square-foot facility. By designing the protective shell as a linear, two-story bar located at the front face of the existing high school, Neosho created a new image for their school district and alleviated a classroom shortage. Sapp Design Associates Architects PC is serving as project architect on the bond funded project with civil and structural engineering from Toth & Associates Inc. Branco Enterprises is general contractor on the project expected to be complete this June.
Toth & Associates Inc.Carl Junction schools addition and FEMA safe rooms, Carl Junction
Civil and structural engineer Toth & Associates Inc. is working with the Carl Junction R-1 School District on a $14.5 million addition and renovation project, including safe rooms and building additions at three schools. An elementary school project includes a classroom addition and a safe room infilled with classrooms, and a second elementary includes a safe room that will serve as a cafeteria and a multipurpose room. The high school is designed with a safe room/multipurpose room and a building addition. Sapp Design Associates Architects PC is architect for the project expected to be complete in summer 2016.
CJW Transportation Consultants LLCLebanon Marketplace-Southdale Centre, Lebanon
CJW Transportation Consultants Inc. provided civil site design on Jared Enterprises Management Co. LLC’s 20-acre Lebanon Marketplace. A complete restoration of the Southdale Centre includes facade improvements, decorative lighting, updated utilities and parking lot improvements. Bates & Associates Inc. is architect on the project slated for completion this summer. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering was provided by Latifi Engineering.
J&M Engineering Inc.Clean water operations building, 755 N. Franklin Ave.
Structural engineer J&M Engineering Inc. is working with the city of Springfield on its $2.6 million clean water operations building. The project for the Clean Water Services Department is designed with some shared space for growing recycling efforts and department staff. It includes small-team meeting spaces, conference space, an employee kitchen, break room, full locker, shower and restroom facilities, and four service truck bays and shop area. The 12,000-square foot, two-story building was designed by Sapp Design Associates Architects PC with additional engineering work from Olsson Associates Inc., civil, and Colvin Jones Davis LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Slated for completion in May, the building is designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-silver certification.
Pinnacle Design Consultants LLCQ’ube, 634 E. Bear Blvd.
Pinnacle Design Consultants LLC is structural engineer on Miller Commerce’s $7 million Q’ube apartment complex near Missouri State University. All bedrooms will have separate bathrooms and will be leased by the bed. Single-bedroom units start at $760 a month, and monthly lease rates for multibedroom units range from $525 to $675 per person. Designed by Bates & Associate Inc., the 40,000-square foot, four-story structure is slated for completion in June. General contractor on the project is Build LLC, with additional design work from Lee Engineering and Associates LLC, civil, and Colvin Jones Davis LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumping.
Mettemeyer Engineering LLCEl Dorado Springs prekindergarten, 901 S. Grand Ave., El Dorado Springs
Structural engineer Mettemeyer Engineering LLC is working with the El Dorado Springs R-2 School District on an $800,000 prekindergarten building. The free-standing, 6,000-square-foot space will comprise four pre-k classrooms and a multipurpose room. It also includes a parking lot, play area, and extension of an existing sidewalks. Project architect is Dake Wells Architecture Inc., with additional mechanical, electrical and plumbing work from Colvin Jones Davis LLC. The project is expected to be complete this spring.
