Sam A. Winn & Associates Architects PC designed a new high school for the Sparta R-III School District. Engineers are Anderson Engineering Inc., civil; J.R. Haney & Associates, structural; and LaRose & Schober Engineering Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The 57,000-square-foot school will have a media center with an attached computer lab and integrated business department, science classrooms and a laboratory. Band and vocal music classrooms are directly attached to English and drama facilities to enable more interaction within the school's fine arts department. A 16,000-square-foot gymnasium will seat 1,420 and have four full-size locker rooms. Also included are a kitchen, cafeteria and on-site parking for 375 vehicles. The site will accommodate future expansions, such as baseball/softball, track and field, and football complexes. Completion is slated for July 2011.[[In-content Ad]]
