Sam A. Winn, Gary Barbee and Wade Lininger of Sam A. Winn & Associates Architects PC are the architects for the new middle school for the Meramec Valley R-III School District in Pacific outside of St. Louis.
Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins is the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer. Anderson Engineering is the civil engineer and J.R. Haney & Associates is the structural engineer for the 80,350-square-foot school. Interior design is by Cecily Laney Interiors, and the general contractor is United Construction. With an estimated cost of $7.8 million, the single-story building is scheduled for completion this fall. The school will accommodate between 500 and 600 students.
The building has sloping metal roofs, a vaulted covered entry and clerestory windows for maximum natural light. The school will operate with a team concept, each level accommodating teams for science, math, language arts and social studies. A large commons area, media center and a divisible gymnasium also are planned.
