Windstream slashing 400 jobs companywide

Posted online
Little Rock, Ark.-based Windstream Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: WIN) announced Friday it is cutting 400 jobs companywide by March 3, according to Arkansas Business.

The telecommunications firm, which employees 13,500 employees and has an office in Springfield, said 175 are being eliminated through a voluntary separation initiative. The 14-employee Springfield Windstream office will not be affected, according to spokesman Scott Morris.

The company anticipates that eliminating the jobs would result in annualized savings of about $20 million after it absorbs $9 million to $10 million in the first quarter to pay severance benefits to affected employees.
