Windows 10 surpasses XP

It took half a year, but Windows 10 has finally surpassed Windows XP.

As of January, Microsoft's newest operating system had been installed on 11.9 percent of the world's personal computers, compared to 11.4 percent for XP and 10.4 percent for Windows 8.1.

Windows 10 trailed both XP and 8.1 in December.

Still, the newest OS trails Windows 7, which is present on 52.5 percent of the world's PCs, according to data tracker Net Market Share.
