Wimbledon canceled for first time since World War II

The Wimbledon Championships were called off over the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision marks the first time Wimbledon has been canceled since World War II in 1945. It's the only time the nearly 150-year-old tennis event hasn't been played during peacetime.

Wimbledon had been scheduled to run June 29-July 12.
