Wildwood company sues Apple for stealing Apple Watch idea

Posted online
Three inventors in the St. Louis suburb of Wildwood are suing Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) for patent infringement with the Apple Watch.

The company Masa LLC and inventors Andrea Jersa, Michael Jersa and Avinash Bhardwaj claim they patented elements of the vibrating watch back in August 2013. The trio filed suit June 5 in U.S. District Court.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports the inventors allege Apple infringed on claims 1-14 of the patent, generally covering a method of receiving and transmitting electronic signals, such as text messages or phone calls, on a vibrating device that can be strapped to a user’s wrist, and alerting a user to the received electronic signal by vibrating the device.

According to the suit, Masa sent a copy of the patent to Apple prior to the release of Watch.

They are seeking a jury trial.
