Authorities are assessing damage from almost 100 wildfires burning across Australia's most populous state that have killed one man, destroyed thousands of homes and forced hundreds to evacuate, according to Al Jazeera.
Wildfires are common during the warmer months in Australia.
In February 2009, the Black Saturday wildfires in Victoria State killed 173 people and destroyed more than 2,000 homes, carrying a damage price tag to the tune of $4.4 billion.
