Why North Korea's attack should leave every company scared stiff

Before the Sony attack, corporations only had to deal with hackers stealing customers' credit card information, so most corporations' reactions were to shrug off the cyber attacks.
 
But when Sony caved to cyber threats against over its movie "The Interview," it "rewarded and incentivized attacks on the rest of us," according to cyber war expert Peter W. Singer in a report by CNNMoney.
 
The attack, which cyber security experts say could've been pulled off by as few as three hackers, has shown how easy it is to cripple a corporation via cyber attacks and threats of violence. According to the report, stopping such attacks requires a big investment that corporations have been unwilling to make. This has left them vulnerable to attacks from any group who believes it has been offended by the company.
