Why aren’t my boundaries sticking?

There are three key reasons boundaries don’t stick. Maybe it wasn’t a boundary in the first place. A request or wish is not a boundary. A boundary only works when you have a measure of control in keeping it. If you care more about their agreement than you care about the boundary, you’ll make exceptions waiting for their agreement. There’s no consequence for crossing the boundary. Unless you can follow through, you lose credibility and impair your leadership.
