A Springfield plumping wholesaler and a charity have been approved for government funding via tax credits and a grant.
Tax creditsThe Missouri Department of Economic Development yesterday approved Springfield plumping wholesaler Queen City Winnelson Co. for $22,202 in Enhanced Enterprise Zone state tax credits.
The credits will help the company expand its existing facility at 1926 E. Phelps St., create eight jobs and make a capital investment of $345,000, according to a DED news release.
"The new investment and job creation by this innovative Missouri company is excellent news for the Springfield economy," Gov. Jay Nixon said in the release.
DED's EEZ program provides state tax credits accompanied by local property tax abatements to new and expanding businesses, according to the DED
Web site.
Grant fundingAmerican Red Cross in Springfield was one of 18 organizations statewide yesterday to be awarded AmeriCorps grants from the Corporation for National and Community Services.
The funding is facilitated through the Missouri Community Service Commission - a division of the DED - which receives funding from the Corporation for National and Community Services in Washington, D.C., according to a separate release.
American Red Cross in Springfield was selected to receive a $119,700 grant. The largest grant - $527,286 - was awarded to AmeriCorps St. Louis Education Corps.
The grants focus on six areas: education, economic opportunity, disaster preparedness and response, health, environment and energy efficiency needs, and veteran and military family assistance. Service organization AmeriCorps is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Services, the release said.
