Whole Foods accused of overcharging in NYC stores

Posted online
The New York Department of Consumer Affairs accused Whole Foods Market on Wednesday of overstating the weight of some prepackaged products sold in the company’s stores in the city.

According to the department, tests of 80 prepackaged products bought in nine New York stores were labeled with erroneous weights.

According to the New York Times, Whole Foods has worked with the city since December to address the allegations.

“They’ve never provided any evidence,” said John Hempfling, chief litigator for Whole Foods. “All I’ve seen from them is the violation sheets.”
