Whitlock Co. buys pair of K.C. firms

The Whitlock Co. is expanding its Kansas City presence through the purchase of two sister companies.

The Springfield-based public accounting firm closed June 1 on the purchase of RPA CPAs LLC and RPA Consulting Inc. for undisclosed terms, according to a news release issued this morning.

Through the deal, TWC gains 20 employees, including four new partners. Combined with the firms, TWC will provide services to more than 175 community banks nationwide. RPA’s client list comprises over 80 Midwestern banks, according to its website.

“The single, stronger practice that will result from this acquisition will better position us to assist community banks across the country,” TWC partner Tom Beisner said in the release. “RPA’s single focus of working with community banks will not only triple the size of our banking practice but also add a depth of services we weren’t able to offer in the past, like compliance, merger and acquisition assistance, and regulatory filings.”

TWC plans to merge its existing office in Overland Park, Kansas, with RPA. The 22-employee practice currently operates in Kansas, but the firm has plans to relocate into the Missouri side. TWC opened its Overland Park office in late 2015.

The Springfield firm also operates an office in Joplin.
