Riding the economic boost of its wooden Outlaw Run roller coaster at Silver Dollar City, Herschend Family Entertainment Corp. has unveiled a $1.7 million planned attraction at its White Water park in Branson.
The ride, dubbed KaPau Plummet, is expected to be ready for the park's seasonal opening in mid-May, according to a news release.
The plan calls for two 240-foot slides, each with a drop-floor contraption that lets riders fall into a 70-degree plunge, followed by a spiraling loop.
Manufactured by British Columbia, Canada-based WhiteWater West Ltd., the ride would rise to 40 feet in height, with 1,000 gallons per minute of water flow.
The 13-acre White Water is owned and operated by Silver Dollar City Attractions and Herschend Family Entertainment. The park closes for the winter in early September.
The $10.5 million Outlaw Run coaster is credited with being a boon for the Branson economy. Through Sept 22, Silver Dollar City brought 1.45 million visitors, up 7.4 percent from the 1.35 million that came to town during the same period in 2012. Branson is on pace for a 2 to 3 percent rise in visitors this year, according to
