White River Connect, an internet subsidiary of White River Valley Electric Cooperative, has completed a fiber internet buildout in Christian County.
With the completion, all of White River Valley Electric Cooperative's electric customers in Christian County have access to high-speed internet service, according to a news release. The latest Christian County city with service is Sparta.
"The residents living in rural Christian County have waited a long time for reliable internet,” White River Valley Electric Cooperative CEO Beau Jackson said in the release. “We’re excited to bring this infrastructure to the Sparta community and to Christian County. We can’t wait to see the impact this technology will have on the area for generations.”
White River Connect has one more location, the Ava service area, to complete its broadband expansion project. Ava is on tap to receive service by the end of summer.
Construction started on the expansion project in June 2023, and White River Connect is tracking nearly two years ahead of the original five-year timeline.
When completed, the project will cover more than 4,200 miles of fiber lines, according to the release.
