White House releases Obama's Spotify playlist

Posted online
The White House released President Barack Obama’s Spotlify playlist, and it’s quite an eclectic compilation.

According to The Wall Street Journal’s Washington Wire blog, the White House kicked off its launch Friday of an official channel on the Spotify music streaming service by creating two summer playlists.

Obama’s handpicked lists are grouped by daytime and nighttime listening. With 20 songs apiece, there’s up-tempo tunes by Bob Marley, Coldplay, The Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin in the day, and low-key songs by John Coltrane, The Lumineers, Joni Mitchell and Mary J. Blige. The playlist has its own Twitter hashtag: #POTUSPlaylist.

The White House said its channel will include playlists created by administration officials and to highlight presidential events and policy issues, according to The Wall Street Journal.
