Whitaker formed 316 Publishing LLC to execute the purchase from Walter and Amy Jungbauer, according to a Whitaker Publishing news release. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Whitaker said Wichita is an ideal market to grow and expand a glossy lifestyle magazine, similar to 417 in Springfield. “We plan to increase the staff and enhance the content,” he said in the release. “We are already in touch with the leadership at the (Wichita) chamber, with merchants and with distribution outlets to improve the magazine’s visibility within the Wichita metro area.”
The Wichita Register, targeting the area’s active, influential and upscale residents, has a circulation of 30,000 copies every other month.
Whitaker Publishing LLC publishes 417 Magazine, 417 Home, 417 Bride, 417 Encore and GO magazine.
