Wharton puts first-year MBA courses online for free

Posted online
Much of Wharton’s Master of Business Administration course content is now being offered for free through the online learning platform Coursera.

The courses available comprise financial accounting, marketing and corporate finance, encompassing most of what students could learn in their first year, according to BloombergBusinessweek.

Students can obtain a certificate showing they have completed the online courses for a $49 fee, but there are currently no plans to accept the certificates for actual course credit. Wharton’s massive open online courses have attracted about 700,000 students in 173 countries. The four classes in the foundation series last about six to 10 weeks, and the first classes start today.
