Springfield's newest Chick-fil-A restaurant is opening this week.
The 3883 W. Sunshine St. fast-food eatery is scheduled to debut on Dec. 4, according to a news release. Houston Phillips, who started with Chick-fil-A as a part-time employee in 2012, is the owner-operator of the restaurant, with approximately 120 jobs created.
“From the beginning of my journey with Chick-fil-A as a team member, I believed a restaurant can be more than a place to eat. It can be a place where people feel genuinely cared for,” Phillips said in the release. “What I look forward to the most about opening this new restaurant in Springfield is creating that kind of environment – one where team members feel supported and developed and guests experience true hospitality every time they walk through our doors."
Atlanta, Georgia-based Chick-fil-A Inc. is donating $25,000 to Feeding America to celebrate the restaurant's opening. Additionally, the restaurant will participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program that donates surplus food to local nonprofits.
The new 5,000-square-foot restaurant sits on a parcel that is owned by Alliance Capital Investors and leased to Chick-fil-A, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. The parcel is in front of Menards, and Springfield Plaza is across the street.
The West Sunshine Chick-fil-A is the company's sixth location in Springfield.
