Wendy's beats quarterly sales estimates

U.S. burger chain Wendy's reported higher-than-expected quarterly sales as more diners visited its restaurants.

The company's same-restaurant sales in North America increased 1.4 percent in the third quarter. Analysts had expected a 0.9 percent rise.

Net income moved up to $48.9 million from $7.6 million a year earlier.
