Wells Fargo's new account openings plunge

Scandal-ridden Wells Fargo is watching its new account openings drop.

New consumer checking account openings plunged 25 percent in September from a year earlier, according to company officials.

In August, openings fell 30 percent when Wells Fargo announced it fired 5,300 workers for creating unauthorized accounts.
