Wells Fargo, Amazon end discounted student loan program

Six weeks after announcing the deal, Wells Fargo and Amazon ended a partnership to offer discounted student loans to the retailer's Prime Student customers.

The July 21 deal had Wells Fargo cutting half a percentage point off the interest rate of loans for Prime Student subscribers.

The two companies were mum on why the deal closed.
