In an effort to help guide consumers through the decision-making process involved with the elder care options available to seniors, Weiss Ratings Inc. has introduced its Consumer Guide to Elder Care Choices.
According to a company announcement, the guide is a comprehensive resource that describes the wide variety of elder care services offered for a range of health needs.
"Nursing homes used to be the only option for seniors who were unable to care for themselves, but no more," said Melissa Gannon, vice president of Weiss Ratings Inc. "Today's seniors can select from a wide array of choices depending on their individual needs. A little education in advance can help ensure their golden years are as fulfilling as possible," she added.
The 47-page guide, which is available for $39 a copy, discusses five alternatives: continuing care retirement communities, assisted living facilities, home health care, adult day care and nursing homes.
It answers several concerns, including the kinds of services offered through each alternative.
"Elder care planning can be stressful for seniors and their family members. With a better understanding of the pros and cons of available choices, seniors and their loved ones can help reduce the stress of care-giving decisions," Gannon said. Information about Weiss Ratings and the Consumer Guide to Elder Care Choices is available online at www.WeissRatings.com.
