Wehrenberg Theatres to be sold

St. Louis-based Wehrenberg Theatres, which earlier this year closed its Springfield theater, has agreed to a buyout.

Milwaukee-based Marcus Theatres (NYSE: MCS) penned a deal to buy the 14-theater chain for undisclosed terms in a transaction expected to close next month.

Ronald Krueger, the longtime president and CEO of the family-owned Wehrenberg, died in October 2015. His wife Midge was expected to take over.

At Wehrenberg's former Campbell 16 Cine, Austin, Texas-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinema took over the lease and is preparing to open early next year.
