The Missouri sales tax holiday runs today through Sunday and removes the 4.225 percent state sales tax from school-related merchandise.
Shoppers can receive the discount on purchases of clothing and shoes up to $100 per item, up to $50 in school supplies, up to $3,500 on personal computers and up to $350 on computer software.
Some cities also have waived city sales taxes for the weekend, though Springfield and many of its surrounding cities have chosen not to participate. (Click here for a list of cities not participating in the city sales tax holiday.)
At Battlefield Mall in Springfield, however, 20 stores are offering an additional 5 percent off merchandise to coincide with the state sales tax holiday. Stores include Gap Kids, Sears, Finish Line and other clothing, shoes and accessories retailers.
