Lloyds Dry Cleaners owner Todd Edwards raised the most money for Springfield Business Journal’s Men of the Year charity partner, The Salvation Army, last month. His $9,320 earned Edwards a $1,000 smoker donated by CountrySide BBQ Pro Shop. He turned around and gave the smoker to fellow Men of the Year honoree Willard Police Chief Tom McClain. On Aug. 22, McClain, above, loads up the smoker, which will be used by the Willard Police Athletic League’s Camp Character program for youth. The Men of the Year event raised a total of $28,377 for Salvation Army.

Cox Monett President Darren Bass moves the gauge on the hospital’s Momentum Campaign tracker. Three separate $1 million gifts were made this summer, bringing the total of community support to $4.6 million of the $7 million goal toward construction of a new hospital in Monett. The million-dollar donors are Dayton and Pearl Mackey, Chris and Ginny Fuldner, and Jack and Margaret Prim, pictured second and fourth from right. Crews broke ground in May for the $42 million hospital, and officials say ground work is complete.
