Harter House employees and family members gather to celebrate $83,700 raised to benefit The Kitchen Inc. during the 24th annual Jerry Bettlach/Jim Trimble Memorial Event held March 3-9. Harter House stores in Springfield, Hollister, Nixa, Kimberling City, Strafford and Shell Knob raised the funds. The event has raised more than $1 million for The Kitchen over the past 24 years.

Mercy Springfield Communities officials cut the ribbon May 24 on a new emergency room at the health care system’s Queen City hospital. The Mercy Kids ER is a $7.5 million expansion located in front of the existing ER – facing National Avenue on the campus of Mercy Hospital Springfield. It opens to patients June 8. The ER is funded through donations, including $1.5 million from the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation Inc.
Downtown flower shop Funky Flaura’s Unique Floral Designs LLC opened; Jordan Valley Community Health Center moved in Republic; and The Jackson Grille got its start in Marshfield.
