Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield named U.S. Cellular its Partner of the Year May 19 during the nonprofit’s Banquet of Champions event. U.S. Cellular donated $10,000 to the charity, as well as a surprise gift of 20 new tablets. The financial donation is earmarked for science, technology, engineering and math education opportunities for youth in Boys & Girls Clubs. Springfield Public Works dedicated its main offices May 23 in honor of its late director. Assistant Director of Public Works Martin Gugel officially kicked off dedication of the Phil Broyles Public Works and Environmental Services Compound. Broyles, who served as director since July 2011, died of cancer in 2014.
