Alamo Drafthouse Cinema plans to open its Springfield theater during the second week of June, owner John Martin reveals to an anxious audience May 16 during Springfield Business Journal’s monthly 12 People You Need to Know interview series. “I had no idea what to expect from Springfield,” Martin says. “When I got here, I was amazed by the openness of the community and just the good nature and the progressiveness.”

Rosalie O’Reilly Wooten receives an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Drury University on May 13. A Springfield native and daughter of O’Reilly Automotive Inc. co-founder C.H. “Chub” O’Reilly, Wooten was honored as a model businesswoman and philanthropist. The 1964 Drury graduate spent the majority of her career as executive vice president of the auto parts company and has served on numerous boards.
