Nixa Junior High School students in Allan Blaue’s eighth-grade journalism class visit Springfield Business Journal during a May 7 field trip. The students were given a guided tour of the downtown office from SBJ Publisher Jennifer Jackson and learned about the editorial and advertising processes from staff members.

Stephan Tchividjian, president of Florida consulting firm The Caleb Group and grandson to evangelist Billy Graham, speaks to an invitation-only crowd at Community Foundation of the Ozarks. During the Generous Giving Inc. event, organized by Springfield businessmen Tom Rankin, Sean McCurry and Michael Chatman, Tchividjian shared personal stories about his 94-year-old grandfather’s influence and answered questions about giving from area philanthropists and financial advisers. Tchividjian identified giving as a consistent way of living rather than simply signing a check. “Unfortunately, it’s often always about commas and zeroes,” he said.
