Downtown Springfield’s steel sculpture “The Tumbler” made a special tumble June 21 in honor of longtime supporter and former Coffee Ethic co-owner Tom Billionis, who died last year. Rotated at the start of each season, this tumble coincided with Billionis’ birthday and included a plaque dedication for his support of downtown revitalization.

Freshman Rep. Crystal Quade broke away from the legislature’s second special session for Springfield Business Journal’s 12 People You Need to Know breakfast. But the session was in the thoughts of the area’s only Democrat during the June 20 interview. “There are a lot of folks – I would say, even more so on the other side of the aisle – who are not very happy right now. The frustration going on right now is not partisan,” she said. The session costs the state $125,000 a week, she said.
