Officials with the Nixa Community Foundation on Dec. 5, 2019, present an $1,860 check to Nixa Parks & Recreation staff to fund a new program. In partnership with the Christian County Library, card holders will be able to obtain pool and fitness center passes at The X Center in 2020 and 2021. The foundation also distributed $2,300 to the Nixa Police Department for its Cops Connecting with Kids program and $1,950 for the city to purchase weather radios to give to the elderly.

Tanger Outlets Branson managers Deidre McCormick, far left, and Jamie Whiteis, far right, present a nearly $47,000 donation to Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, represented by Allyson Tuckness and Joe Daues. The proceeds are from the TangerPink Campaign and the 11th annual TangerFit 5K run/walk and silent auction. During the campaign in October, 2019, shoppers at the Tanger outlet mall could purchase a Pink Savings Pass to save 25% off a single item at participating stores.

SMART GIVING
Nebraska-based Smart Chicken donated 7,000 pounds of chicken Dec. 18, 2019, to Ozarks Food Harvest Inc. as part of the company’s 17th annual Smart Giving Holiday Challenge campaign. During the challenge in November, Smart Chicken donates 10% of poultry purchased at area retailers, including Harter House, Price Cutter, Country Mart and Food 4 Less.
