Pitmaster Brad Leighninger of the Gettin’ Basted competitive barbecue team holds the fourth-place award for the 2019 Team of the Year from the Kansas City Barbecue Society. Leighninger also took home top honors in four barbecue meat categories. Organizers say over 2,600 pitmasters competed for the trophies and $27,000 in cash prizes.
