University of Missouri-Columbia football coach Gary Pinkel is among 15 individuals, a football program and a college football team to be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame on Jan. 31. In 15 seasons at Mizzou, Pinkel became the winningest coach in school history. He was 118-73 overall at Mizzou, and the Tigers enjoyed five 10-win seasons since 2007. Pinkel, who in May was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, retired after the team’s final game of 2015.

USA Network, in partnership with Mediacom, presents Springfield resident Jamie Raab with a $5,000 check and a USA Unites Award on Dec. 5 at the Discovery Center of Springfield. Raab, director of Girls Empowering Minds and Spirits, was among 10 winners chosen from hundreds of nominees nationwide for their community contributions. Honorees also will be recognized on-air in a public service announcement, online at USAUnites.com and on social media. GEMS offers prosocial groups, community activities and evidence-based curriculum in an effort to lower juvenile detention and referral rates.
