Mercy Springfield Communities officials break ground Aug. 17 on a $10 million, 100,000-square-foot center in Republic where supply management division Resource Optimization & Innovation will produce custom surgical packs. Nearly 100 will work at the center, where production is expected to triple to 1.5 million custom surgical packs a year. ROI, which was founded in 2002 to allow Mercy to buy supplies directly from manufacturers and distribute those goods to system facilities, will continue to operate its center at 2909 N. Neergard Ave. in Springfield.
College of the Ozarks Vice President for Cultural Affairs Sue Head addresses the school’s decision this year to drop uniform provider Land’s End during Springfield Business Journal’s 12 People You Need to Know live interview series Aug. 16. She also revealed a star-studded political lineup for the Point Lookout school’s fall speaker series: Former Republican presidential hopefuls Ben Carson and Newt Gingrich. With an 8-10 percent acceptance rate, the school currently has a student body of around 1,500.
