Students learn to lay brick and other construction skills during the April 17 Build My Future Construction Showcase at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. Construction industry leaders say over 2,700 students from 77 regional schools and programs were on hand to participate in some 75 exhibits.

Art on the Move

Artist Larry Askren steadies a sculpture along Park Central West as fellow artist Joe Malesky secures it to a concrete block. The piece, titled “Castrovalva,” is one of 22 new pieces being installed in April during Sculpture Walk Springfield’s annual rotation of public artwork. Sculpture Walk Director Nicole Brown says the walk now has 32 pieces, nine of which are permanent to the collection.
