Website investigates value of in-depth journalism

Posted online
News you can use: How much is it worth to you? The website Uncoverage.com, launched Monday, is asking people to put a dollar amount on how much hard news coverage is worth to them.

As reported in the New York Times, the website is a platform for journalists and nonprofits to solicit crowdsourced funding for in-depth investigative reporting for specific topics and projects.

Website founder Israel Mirsky states he began the site because online journalism doesn’t sufficiently cover weighty topics. Uncoverage.com will allow journalists and editors to pitch projects for public funding, with the site getting up to 7 percent of the take. The Center for Public Integrity is partnering with Uncoverage.com and will feature its projects on the site.
