Web chat for small businesses covers disaster planning

Posted online
The U.S. Small Business Administration’s monthly Web chat for May focuses on disaster readiness for small businesses.

Madelyn H. Flannagan, vice president of education and research for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America, and Rick Jenkins of SBA’s Office of Disaster Assistance will be available noon–1 p.m. Thursday, at www.sba.gov.

The two will answer questions about adequate insurance coverage, as well as emergency readiness and preparedness planning for small businesses, including business continuity. They also will talk about how to minimize property damage and economic loss from a disaster and how to lay the groundwork for recovery.

The Web chat is simultaneous with national Hurricane Preparedness Week, May 20–26.

Participants can join the live Web chat by going to SBA’s home page and clicking on the “Online Business Chat” icon. Participants can post questions before the event at the same site.
